KEAM 2021: Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical Entrance Examinations

KEAM stands for Kerala Engineering, Agriculture and Medical entrance exam. KEAM is a state-level entrance exam for Engineering, Agriculture and Medical courses conducted by Commissioner of the Entrance exam, Government of Kerala. Students who want to get admissions for the graduate degree such as B.Tech, BSc. (forestry), BSc. (Agriculture), MBBS, BDS should give this entrance exam. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, KEAM 2021 has been postponed.

Notification

KEAM is the undergraduate entrance examination which is conducted by the CEE (Commissioner of Entrance Examination) Kerala and Government of Kerala. Candidates who are willing to get their graduation degree in MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BSMS, B.Sc (Forestry), B.Sc (honours) agriculture, B.VSc (Animal Husbandry), B.FSc and B.Tech (in all regular branches including agriculture, food engineering and dairy science and technology) courses can take up the KEAM entrance examination.

Eligibility Criteria             

Applying candidates are categorized based on their domicile status in Kerala.

  • Keralite: Candidates who hold domicile certificate of Kerala are grouped into this category. Candidates in this category are eligible for reservation.
  • NonKeralite Category I: Candidates who fulfil the following criteria come under this category.
  • Have passed School examinations from Kerala (8th to 12th).
  • Candidates’ parents have served in Kerala Government.
  • Candidates’ parents who are part of Central Government job or Defense posted in Kerala.
  • Candidates have at least did 5 years of schooling in Kerala.
  • Non-Keralite Category-II.

Exam Pattern

  • KEAM 2021 exam is classified into two parts, paper-1, and paper-2, with a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes for each part of MCQ type with five options.
  • There will be a total of 120 questions with 4 mark allotted to each. Paper, I include the subjects Physics and Chemistry. Paper-II includes only Maths.
  • The examination will be held in offline mode.
  • The applicants will be given 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted as penalty for each wrong answer.

Answer Key

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will publish the “Answer Keys” on the website of the CEE after the completion of all the examinations.

Registration Process

The registration process begins with filling up of application form from the official website of KEAM. Before filling the form, the candidates need to check the eligibility criteria and then apply for the examination. The candidates can fill and download the application form via online and offline. The registration fees for CEE Kerala KEAM where general category candidates need to pay Rs 700/- (Engineering only/ B.Pharm only/both), Rs. 500/-(Architecture only/Medical & Allied only/both)  and for both rs 900 /- for SC category candidates rs 300/-(Engineering only/ B.Pharm only/both), Rs 200/- (Architecture only/Medical & Allied only/both) and for both Rs 400/-.

ST candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

Application Form

The application form for KEAM 2021 is available both online and offline. Candidate can buy the form from any notified post offices of Kerala. A scratch card in which unique serial number and key number to make payment will be mentioned along with the form.

Candidate can pay the application fee through Demand Draft drawn on a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank in favour of CEE (Commissioner of Entrance Examination), Kerala payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Also, Candidates can pay the application fees online. They will have to send application form which is available in the official KEAM website, through speed post or registered post to the official KEAM 2020 official address.

Counselling

Allotment of seats will be done via the Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) through Single Window System (SWS). The allotment will be based on the rank scored by the applicants & options filled by them during application. The entire process of allotment will be held by CEE (Commissioner for Entrance Examinations), Kerala with the support of National Informatics Centre. The applicants will have to report to the allotted college after the seat allotment to confirm their admission. Once candidates are shortlisted, they are supposed to login into the official site and check their counselling dates. Selected candidates have to carry their original mark sheets and certificates at the time of counselling and if they fail to carry their original certificates and mark-sheets their admission will be cancelled. Downloaded mark-sheets and certificates are not allowed.

Admit Card

The admit card will be available on the official site of the CEE (Commissioner of Entrance Examination) Kerala. After the announcement of admit card, the candidate can able to download the card by filling up the application number. Candidate can download and take the print out of their admit card. Hall ticket will not be sent by post, candidates are supposed to download the admit card from the official site only.

Result

KEAM 2021 result will be declared in the month of July tentatively. The result of KEAM contains overall and categorical marks of the candidate. Once the result is out, the cut-off of KEAM will be released by KEAM committee.

Cut off

KEAM Cut off usually depend on the following factors

  • Number of candidates appeared
  • Number of seats
  • The difficulty level of KEAM exam
  • Previous year cutoff
  • Performances of candidates appeared
  • The marks obtained in class XII or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.  Both KEAM marks and XII marks will be given equal weightage for deciding the rank.

The admissions will be Merit-based only.
